How to resize images for Facebook
- Choose the size: a cover, event cover, group cover, post, story, profile picture, or Custom.
- Choose how the picture fits (see the table below).
- Add your images. Each one is resized at once and the list shows the result.
- Click a picture in the list to preview it as a cover on desktop and phone.
- Change an option and click Apply again to redo the whole list, then download one by one or as a ZIP.
Which fit to choose
| Fit | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Crop to fill | Covers the whole frame and cuts off the overflow. You pick which part stays: center, top, bottom, left or right. | Covers and banners from wide photos |
| Fit with bars | Keeps the whole picture and fills the empty space with a color. | Logos, charts, screenshots and text you cannot cut |
| Fit with blurred background | Keeps the whole picture and fills the space with a blurred, enlarged copy. | Vertical photos in a wide frame, post images |
Which size for which place
| Place | Size |
|---|---|
| Profile or Page cover | 851 × 315, or 1640 × 624 for extra sharpness |
| Event cover | 1920 × 1005 (about 1.91:1) |
| Group cover | 1640 × 856 |
| Shared link or landscape post | 1200 × 630 |
| Square post | 1080 × 1080 |
| Portrait post | 1080 × 1350 |
| Story or Reel | 1080 × 1920 |
Event and group cover sizes vary a little between guides, so the shape (about 1.91:1) matters more than the exact pixels.
Preview before you upload
The preview shows your image the way a computer and a phone crop a cover, with an approximate profile picture overlap. It is a guide, not the exact Facebook layout, which can change. Always check the real page after you upload.
