What it does
The counter splits your text into words, tallies each one, and ranks the results from most to least frequent. It updates as you type and shows the count, the share of all words, and a bar for quick comparison. Nothing leaves your browser.
How words are counted
A word is a run of letters or digits. Apostrophes and hyphens inside a word are kept, so don't and well-known each count as one word. Case is ignored by default, so The and the are merged. Untick Ignore case to count them separately.
Filters that help
- Minimum length hides short words such as a and of.
- Minimum count hides words that appear only once.
- Ignore numbers removes figures and years from the list.
- Exclude stop words removes very common words so the topic words stand out.
