Resize HEIC

Resize iPhone HEIC photos and save them as JPG files that every website and program accepts. Photos are processed on your device.

Drop images here, click to choose, or paste
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP. Up to 100 files. Stays in your browser.

Everything runs in your browser. Your images are not sent to our server. Sizes are shown with 1 KB = 1,000 bytes.

Why HEIC photos need converting

HEIC is the default photo format on recent iPhones and iPads. It is efficient, but many websites, forms and Windows programs cannot open it. This page opens the HEIC file, resizes it and saves a JPG, so you do not need a separate conversion step.

How to resize a HEIC photo

  1. Add the HEIC files. Safari opens them directly. Other browsers first load a small decoder, which takes a moment.
  2. Enter the new width or height, or choose a percentage or a file size.
  3. Download the JPG files, or all of them as a ZIP.

Good to know

  • A JPG made from a HEIC is often larger than the HEIC, because JPG is less efficient. Resizing to a smaller width is the best way to bring it down.
  • iPhone photos are about 4,000 by 3,000 pixels. A width of 1,600 to 2,000 is plenty for screens and email.
  • Live Photo video, depth data and HDR information are not kept. You get one still image.
  • To make the iPhone save JPG in the first place, open Settings, Camera, Formats, and choose Most Compatible.

Limits for uploads

If an upload has a size limit, use the file-size mode here: 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB. To keep the pixels and lower the quality instead, use the HEIC compressor.

Other formats: JPG, PNG, WebP.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a HEIC image?

Add the HEIC file, enter a new width or height and download. The output is a JPG.

Why is the JPG bigger than the HEIC?

HEIC compresses better. Resize to fewer pixels or lower the quality to bring the JPG down.

Is my iPhone photo uploaded?

No. In some browsers a decoder library is downloaded, but the photo stays on your device.

Does it keep the location data?

No. EXIF data, including GPS, is removed.
