How to resize images for Pinterest
- Choose the size first: a pin preset, the profile cover size, or Custom with your own width and height.
- Choose how the picture fits (see the table below).
- Add your images. Each one is resized as soon as it is added, and the list shows the result.
- If you change an option afterwards, click Apply again to redo the whole list.
- Download each pin or one ZIP.
Which fit to choose
| Fit | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Crop to fill | Scales the picture to cover the pin and cuts off the overflow. You choose which part stays: center, top, bottom, left or right. | Photos that are already close to the pin shape, and designs with margins |
| Fit with bars | Keeps the whole picture and fills the empty space with a color you choose. | Screenshots, charts, product shots on a plain background, text you cannot lose |
| Fit with blurred background | Keeps the whole picture and fills the space with a blurred, enlarged copy of it. | Landscape photos on a tall 2:3 pin, quick pins from any picture |
For a face or a product near one edge, use Crop with the focus on that side so it stays in the frame.
Options that matter
- Size: 1000 × 1500 is the recommended pin. Long, infographic, square, vertical 9:16 and 2000 × 3000 are on the list, and Custom accepts any size from 16 to 8000 pixels.
- Format: JPG is smallest for photos. PNG keeps text and flat colors perfectly sharp. WebP is small and keeps transparency, if your browser can create it.
- Quality and target size: pick a quality, or set a limit such as 200 KB and the tool finds the best quality that fits.
- Bar color: match your brand color, or pick a neutral one that suits the photo.
Batch pins for a whole board
Drop a folder of pictures, choose 1000 × 1500 and blurred background, and you get a set of consistent pins in one ZIP. The files are named with the picture name and the size, for example kitchen-1000x1500.jpg, so they stay easy to sort. Rename them with a descriptive name before you upload, because file names can help Pinterest and search engines understand a pin.
Image quality
The tool resizes with high quality smoothing. It does not make a small picture sharper. When an image has to be enlarged to fill the pin, the list marks it, and you should use a larger original if you can. When you shrink a large picture, the result is sharp.
Privacy
The images are processed in your browser and are never uploaded. The tool keeps working if you switch off your connection after the page has loaded.
