Compress Photo for Exam Form

Exam registration forms often have separate fields for a photo and a signature, each with a small limit. Typical ranges are 20 to 50 KB for a photo and 10 to 20 KB for a signature, but each exam states its own. This page starts at 50 KB in JPG with a 600 pixel cap, and you can set any other target.

Settings this page uses

  • Output: JPG.
  • Target size: 50 KB. For a signature pick 20 KB or use a custom number such as 15.
  • Max size: 600 pixels.

You can change any setting above the results.

Checklist before you upload

  • Read the notice for the exact limit, file type and pixel size of each field.
  • Compress the photo and the signature in two separate runs, with different targets.
  • Sign with a dark pen on white paper and crop tightly. A tight crop saves bytes.
  • Check both files at 100% before you submit, since a blurry photo can be rejected.

If something goes wrong

If the signature looks gray or broken, scan it at a higher contrast first. For a black and white signature, PNG with 16 colors is also small and sharp, if the form allows PNG.

Frequently asked questions

What is the usual size limit for an exam photo?

It varies by exam. 20 to 50 KB is common. Always follow the notice for your form.

Can I use the same setting for the signature?

Use a smaller target, such as 20 KB, or a custom value. A signature has little detail and fits easily.

The form wants exact pixel dimensions. Can the tool do that?

It sets a maximum width and height, but it does not crop or stretch to an exact size. Crop first, then compress.
