The consonants
There are 21 consonant letters when Y counts as a consonant: B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y and Z. If you tick Y counts as a vowel, the pool drops to 20. Every consonant in the pool has the same chance each time.
Good uses
- Starting letters: draw a consonant and name words, names or places that start with it.
- Consonant blends: pick two or three consonants and look for words that contain them in order, such as str or bl.
- Word puzzles: set a challenge to build a word from random consonants plus vowels of your choice.
