Links with a pre-filled message
A WhatsApp link can carry a message. When the link is opened, the message is in the typing box and the person only needs to press send. It is useful for orders, questions, bookings and support, because the visitor does not have to write anything and you receive the information you need.
How it works
The message is added to the link after text=, with special characters replaced by percent codes. This is called URL encoding, and the tool does it for you:
| You type | In the link |
|---|---|
| A space | %20 |
| A line break | %0A |
| An ampersand (&) | %26 |
| A question mark | %3F |
| A hash sign (#) | %23 |
| An emoji or accented letter | Several codes, as UTF-8 |
Without encoding, an ampersand or a hash sign would cut the message off, and a space could break the link in some apps. The Encoded message line shows what was added to the link.
Templates
Choose a template to start from: a product inquiry, an order, a support request, an appointment, a quote request, or a plain share message. Change the words as you like. Where a message ends with a colon, the visitor can finish it.
Share links without a number
Tick Do not add a phone number to make a link that opens WhatsApp with the message ready and lets the person choose who to send it to. It is the link behind most share on WhatsApp buttons, and it is the one to use when you want visitors to send your page to their friends.

Tips
- Keep it short. Very long links can be cut off by some apps and are hard to scan as QR codes. The tool shows the length of the link.
- Do not put personal data, such as an order number that is secret, in a link that many people will see.
- Test the link on a phone before you publish it.
