Photos to PDF, ready to share
Photos from a phone are large and are often stored sideways, with a note in the file that says how to rotate them. This page is set up for them: each photo is turned the right way up, shrunk to at most 3000 pixels on its longest side, and saved with high quality. The result is a PDF of a size that you can send by email or upload to a form.
Steps
- Choose the photos. On a phone, the button opens your photo library, and you can select many photos at once.
- Check the order. Photos with names such as IMG_0001, IMG_0002 can be put in order with Sort by name.
- Choose Fit to keep the whole photo on the page, or Fill to cover the page and crop the edges.
- Press Create PDF and download it.
Why photos are processed here
PDF viewers do not read the orientation note in a photo, so a photo that is stored sideways would show sideways in the PDF. Because this page turns the picture itself, each page shows the photo as it looks in your gallery.
Typical uses
- A set of photos of a document, such as a form or a contract, taken page by page.
- Pictures of damage for an insurance claim, with one photo on each page.
- A photo album, a school project or a portfolio.
- Receipts and invoices for an expense report.
iPhone photos in HEIC format
New iPhones can save photos as HEIC, which most browsers cannot open. If a photo does not load, change the camera format in Settings, Camera, Formats, to Most Compatible, which saves JPEG, or convert the photo to JPG first.
Smaller or larger file?
The settings below the list let you change the maximum size and the quality. Keep the defaults for email. Choose Keep original quality and no size limit if you plan to print the PDF in a large format.
